The story of Japan

Once there was a boy. His name was Japan. He was always trying to think of things that would make him happy. This was his addiction, habit, hobby, attitude. He could never focus on something that would make him sad. Even if he started thinking of something sad, there would be something in that which he would focus on that would end up making him happy. One day, during the thought process of thinking, he forgot to go to school. His mom then came to his room and yelled at him. But even then, he was thinking about how happy he was that he missed school, and he wasnt bothered by the yellations of the mother. His mom decided to force him to stay in the room and study all day. But that didnt make him sad either, he was thinking about how happy he would start playing with his Lego collection once mom goes back to the kitchen.

Years went by and Japan was now 25 years old, and he hadnt changed one bit. Even when his dog died after 10 years, but he thought about how happy he was when the dog was with him, and didnt even think for a second about the tragedy that had occured. Friends and family couldn't stand the way he stood there smiling and warned him saying he has to change, and this will only result in depression once all the sadness hits him. But he wasn't bothered by this, he decided to stay the way he was. It was the best thing to do he felt. He saw the way others were reacting to tragedies in their life, and how some of them couldnt even come out of the sadness, this gave him further motivation to remain the way he was.

Several years went by and Japan had lived a full life, he was now old, he was married happily for 40 years, had a son who was now working for a big company and a grandson as well, who was in school. He had seen a lot of things go wrong, and had a lot of really hard times, bad health, loss of jobs, poor finances, friends who betrayed him and since his son lived in a foreign land, he didnt even get to spend time with his grandson. But yet, he hadnt changed his attitude one bit. He would simply think of something else that would make him happy. Most of the ppl he knew distanced themselves from him because of his attitude. They felt it was fake and that he was not ready to face the world.

How can he smile at the funeral of his best friend?
How can he smile when there is no food to eat?
How can he smile when he came home to tell his wife that he lost his job?
How can he smile when his son had an accident?

These were questions that had no answer, Japan himself couldnt answer these questions, he would just say "That just the way I am". This frustrated the people around him. Most of them simply lost touch, and distanced themselves from him.

A few years later, he had a heart attack, and was laid to rest. All his friends from the past and family were present at the funeral. When each of them walked up to the casket and looked upon his calm face with a smile, the sight of Japan smiling even in his casket made them cry. But this immediately brought back memories of incidents in the past, when Japan simply smiled when something horrible had happened. This brought back a smile on their faces and stopped the tears, and when they walked out of the funeral home, they left with a smile.
